MUMBAI – Analysts expect cement stocks to recover gradually in the upcoming week as most of them logged substantial losses in the past week amid the rising oil prices. The corporate results of cement stocks for the June quarter will also be in focus, they said.

"Nifty Cement index is trading in a slightly upward sloping channel pattern having immediate support placed around 15000 and resistance around 15750 levels," Vipin Kumar, assistant vice president of research at Globe Capital Market, said. "A break from this channel will instigate the immediate short term move in that direction."

Crisil Ratings sees operating margin of cement makers to pare by INR 50-INR 70 per tonne on the back of elevated input costs due to the ongoing West Asia war. "Operating cash flows, however, should improve as domestic demand holds steady. This, along with strong balance sheets, will help sustain stable credit profiles across the sector," the rating agency said in a press release.

Crisil also expects ongoing capacity additions, which cater to growing demand, to keep capital expenditure elevated. However, lower-than-expected infrastructure spending, including delays in project awarding and execution, is likely to affect
cement demand, it said.
