Seen steady; investors await Indus Towers earnings

NEW DELHI – Shares of telecommunication companies are likely to remain largely steady next week, with stock-specific moves expected following the June-quarter earnings of Indus Towers Ltd. The company will announce its June-quarter results on Monday.
Indus Towers' consolidated net profit in the June quarter is likely to stay largely unchanged sequentially at INR 17.96 billion, according to the average of estimates from seven brokerages. This would, however, mean a year-on-year rise of 3%. The telecommunications infrastructure provider's consolidated revenue for the quarter is likely to rise 4% sequentially and year-on-year to INR 83.83 billion, as per the average of estimates.
JM Financial Services Ltd. estimates Indus Towers to have net added about 3,500 towers in the June quarter and built in 5,500 net tenancy additions.
Friday, the BSE Telecommunication Index ended 0.9% lower at 3542.07 points with a majority of the index constituents ending in the red. During the week, the index fell 1.7%. Friday, the BSE Sensex ended 0.4% lower at 76059.77 points, with the index falling 2.7% during the week.
Next week, the BSE Telecommunication index is expected to find initial support at 3452 points and face resistance at 3597 points, according to Ganesh Angaj, head technical analyst at NVS Brokerage Pvt. Ltd. Beyond these levels, Angaj anticipates support and resistance at 3424 points and 3642 points, respectively.
