Mumbai – CreditAccess Grameen Ltd. reported a sharp year-on-year jump in its net profit for the June quarter, beating the Street's estimate. The company’s net profit for the June quarter rose more than eight times to INR 4.9 billion from INR 602 million in the year-ago quarter. The analysts' consensus estimate was INR 4.05 billion. The company’s net interest income rose 24% on year to INR 11.64 billion from INR 9.37 billion. The estimate was INR 11.51 billion.

 

The lender's disbursements in the June quarter rose 12% on year to INR 61.07 billion. This was sharply lower than the INR 83.13 billion the company had disbursed in the trailing quarter. 

 

The company's total expenses declined 19% on year to INR 11.24 billion. This was led by a 63?ll in impairment of financial instruments to INR 2.13 billion for the June quarter.

 

The non-banking financial company reported a net interest margin of 14.4% for the June quarter, up from 14.2% for the trailing quarter and 12.8% for the year-ago quarter. Analysts had estimated a net interest margin in the range of 12.8-13.2% for the June quarter.  

 

CreditAccess Grameen's total income for the June quarter increased 22% on year to INR 17.84 billion from INR 14.64 billion. The company's assets under management grew 16% to INR 303 billion and met estimates.

 

The company's retail finance now constitutes 20.6% of assets under management, up from 18.1% in the March quarter. The company's branch network expanded to 2,276 from 2,114 in the year-ago quarter. CreditAccess' employee base grew 3% on year to 21,981. The company's portfolio share of unique borrowers in group lending rose to 46% from 36% in the year-ago quarter.

 

"Our asset quality metrics remained within our expected range through the quarter, supported by sustained collection efficiency across all operating geographies," Ganesh Narayanan, managing director and chief executive officer, said in a press release. "Our continued ability to recover quickly drove strong improvement in profitability, a trend now visible for the second consecutive quarter. We expect this trajectory to be sustained through the rest of the year, helping achieve our FY27 performance guidance."

 

Friday, shares of CreditAccess Grameen ended at INR 1,517.60 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 1% from Thursday. The results were announced after market hours.  End
