--Cabinet OKs INR 12.64 bln for lines 3, 4 between Ballari and Guntakal
NEW DELHI – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Friday approved building 3rd and 4th railway lines for the Ballari–Guntakal section in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh at a total outlay of INR 12.64 billion. The project will be completed by 2028-29 (Apr-Mar), an official release said.
The 46-kilometre-long project will cover three districts across these two states, the release said. The project is planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, with a focus on enhancing multi-modal connectivity and logistics efficiency through integrated planning and stakeholder consultations, it said.
The project, on an essential route for the transportation of commodities such as iron ore, dolomite, limestone, iron and steel, coal, fertilisers, and food grains, will result in additional freight traffic of 16.22 million tonnes per annum, the release said. End
