MUMBAI – Dr Lal PathLabs Ltd. reported a sharp on-year rise in its net profit for the June quarter on the back of a strong increase in revenue. The consolidated figures for the quarter beat the consensus estimates for both the top line and the bottom line.  

 

The health service provider reported a consolidated bottom line of INR 1.70 billion for the June quarter, up 28% on year and 29% on quarter. Analysts expected the bottom line at INR 1.43 billion. The company posted a consolidated top line of INR 7.98 billion, up over 19% on year and nearly 14% sequentially. Its total income rose nearly 19% on year to INR 8.30 billion, which was also up over 14% on quarter. 

 

At 1519 IST, shares of Dr Lal PathLabs were at INR 1,762 per share on the National Stock Exchange, up 4.3?ter the earnings were announced. The company declared an interim dividend of INR 5 per share for the record date as Jul. 30.

 

The company posted the highest quarterly growth in revenue in the last four years primarily due to an increase in patient and sample volumes. It served 8.2 million patients in the reporting quarter, up over 8% year-on-year. The volumes of samples rose to 25.9 million, up nearly 11%, as per the company's investor presentation. 

 

The company's total expenses rose over 16% on year to INR 6.01 billion for the June quarter and only 6% on quarter. The cost of raw materials consumed made up 25% of total expenses and rose to INR 1.52 billion, up nearly 18% on year and over 12% sequentially to INR 1.52 billion. Employee benefits rose to INR 1.33 billion, up nearly 7% on year and only 3% sequentially.

 

Dr Lal PathLabs reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 2.47 billion for the June quarter, up nearly 29% year-on-year. Its EBITDA margin had risen to 31% from 28.7% a year ago quarter. 

 

Swasthfit contributed 27% to the company's total revenue. It provides several schemes under Swasthfit packages for full-body medical check-ups at affordable rates, according to its website. The company managed its operations with GenAI and curated healthcare and handled 90% of its queries by bots with lower drop rates, as per the investor presentation.      

 

Among the key highlights in the June quarter, Dr Lal PathLabs acquired an 80% stake in Sunshine Healthcare Ltd., Ghana. It also acquired a 30% stake in Neuome Technologies Pvt. Ltd., for a consideration amount of not more than INR 35 million. 

 

"...we have launched a rural outreach programme, which is now active in 7 states, and we have tested more than 110,000 patients in these areas in Q1 FY27 (Apr-Jun)," Executive Chairman Arvind Lal said in the investor presentation.  End
