MUMBAI - Cyient Ltd.'s consolidated net profit for the June quarter nearly doubled sequentially but missed analysts' estimates. The technology solutions company's revenues rose sharply and beat estimates.
The company posted a net profit of INR 1.04 billion for the June quarter, up 90% on quarter. Its consolidated revenues rose nearly 8% sequentially to INR 20.76 billion. Analysts had estimated the company's bottom line at INR 1.50 billion and top line at INR 17.44 billion. For the March quarter, the company had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 548 million on revenues of INR 19.27 billion. On year, the bottom line fell 32% while revenues rose 21%.
The company's consolidated EBIT rose 9% to INR 2.01 billion for the June quarter. The EBIT margin rose to 9.7% from 9.5% in the trailing quarter.
Cyient's digital, engineering, and technology segment net sales rose nearly 3% on quarter to INR 15.4 billion. Sales from the design-led manufacturing segment were flat at INR 3.74 billion and sales from the semiconductors segment more than doubled to INR 1.70 billion. Emkay Global Financial Services Ltd. had estimated a surge in sales from the semiconductor segment due to the acquisition of US-based Kinetic Technologies.
Cyient's digital, engineering, and technology segment profit rose 2% on quarter to INR 1.41 billion. The segment's earnings before interest and tax were INR 2.03 billion with a margin of 13.2%.
During the quarter, the company successfully completed the buyback of 6.4 million shares at INR 1,125 per share for a total of INR 7.2 billion. This is approximately 5.76% of the total paid-up capital of the company, the company said in a presentation.
"Q1 FY27 was a quarter of satisfactory growth over broad segments of the business," Sukamal Banerjee, executive director and chief executive officer, said. "That momentum comes from focusing on our lifecycle engineering capabilities, which opens up a far larger market for us. Our M&A (mergers and acquisitions) strategy was a promise to move on this opportunity, and this quarter we delivered the first step. We announced our agreement to acquire TAO Digital Solutions."
Thursday, shares of Cyient ended at INR 830.65 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.5% from Wednesday. The company announced its June quarter earnings after market hours. End
