MUMBAI – The National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Ltd. on Wednesday announced the launch of 'NCDEX Nidhi', its mutual fund transaction platform, effective from Jul. 29. The platform will facilitate transactions in mutual fund schemes through a streamlined and technology-enabled exchange infrastructure, it said in a release.

Mutual fund distributors, mutual intermediaries, and registered investment advisors are required to comply with the eligibility criteria, operational requirements, and documentation procedures prescribed by NCDEX periodically, it said.

All mutual fund distributors, mutual intermediaries, and registered investment advisors registered with the Association of Mutual Funds in India and enrolled with the respective asset management companies will be eligible to participate on the platform, subject to fulfilment of the applicable requirements.

Participants have to comply with the operational guidelines, terms and conditions specified in the master circular, other circulars, directives, and requirements as issued by the NCDEX from time to time. The master circular will be published separately. Participants will also have to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and directions issued by the Securities Exchange Board of India, Association of Mutual Funds in India, and other relevant regulatory authorities governing activities related to mutual fund distribution and transactions, the release said.

Quoting NCDEX MD Arun Raste, Informist had reported in May that the exchange had received approval of market regulator SEBI to launch a mutual fund transaction platform. NCDEX aims to design its mutual fund platform to serve "as a natural precursor to the launch of the equity and equity derivatives segment."  End
