MUMBAI – Automotive components maker CIE Automotive India Ltd. reported a double-digit growth in its net profit and revenue for the June quarter, driven by growth in its India business. However, the earnings were below the Street estimates.

CIE Automotive reported a consolidated net profit of INR 2.36 billion, up nearly 16% from INR 2.04 billion in the year-ago quarter. The net profit was slightly lower than Street estimate of INR 2.45 billion. The company's consolidated revenue from operations for the June quarter grew nearly 11% on year to INR 26.21 billion from INR 23.69 billion in the year-ago quarter. The revenue was slightly below Street estimate of INR 26.26 billion.

The company's revenue from its India business increased over 12% on year to INR 17.04 billion. The company's revenues from its European business rose 7.4% on year to INR 9.17 billion.

The company's total expenses increased in line with the revenue growth to INR 23.38 billion in the June quarter, up 10% on year from INR 21.21 billion. Its finance cost jumped over six times to INR 101.73 million. The company follows the calendar year for its financials and for the first half (Jan-Jun), CIE Automotive reported revenue from operations of INR 52.33 billion, up 13% on year. Its net profit for the half year was INR 4.85 billion, up almost 19% on year.

CIE Automotive reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 4.18 billion for the June quarter, up 17% on year from INR 3.59 billion. The company's EBITDA margin increased to 16.4% for the June quarter from 15.7% in the year-ago quarter. The company said its consolidated performance was supported by the growth of the Indian business and the impact of currency movement for its European business.

The auto component maker's EBITDA from its India business increased 9% on year to INR 2.77 billion. The EBITDA margin declined to 16.7% from 17.5% in the year-ago quarter, due to an increase in prices of raw materials, energy, and consumables because of the war in West Asia. The EBITDA from European business increased 36% on year to INR 1.41 billion. The EBITDA margin expanded to 15.9% from 12.5% in the year-ago quarter, due to effect of last year's restructuring.

Wednesday, the company's shares closed almost flat at INR 472.50 on the National Stock Exchange. The company declared its earnings after market hours.  End
