MUMBAI – Schaeffler India Ltd. on Wednesday reported strong growth in its net profit and revenue for the June quarter. The company's revenues were driven by strong sales growth in the automotive technologies segment. The company's net profit was in line with the Street's view, despite a sharp rise in total expenses.

Schaeffler reported a consolidated net profit of INR 3.26 billion for the June quarter, up over 13% on-year from INR 2.87 billion. Analysts had estimated the company's bottom line in the range of INR 3.22 billion and 3.37 billion for the June quarter.

The company's revenue from operations rose 17% on year to INR 27.61 billion for the June quarter from INR 23.53 billion. Analysts had estimated revenues in the range of INR 26.67 billion and INR 27.07 billion. The rise in the top line was driven by a 33% on-year growth in sales in the company's automotive technologies segment to INR 9.4 billion. Sales in the bearings and industrial solutions segment rose 6% to INR 5.36 billion. Sales in its vehicle lifetime solutions segment grew 10% to INR 4.13 billion.

Schaeffler's total expenses were up over 17% on year to INR 23.54 billion for the reporting quarter.

During Jan-Jun, Schaeffler's consolidated revenue from operations rose 18% on year to INR 53.46 billion and net profit was up 19% to INR 6.42 billion. The company's financial year runs from January to December.

"Our Automotive Technologies, Vehicle Lifetime Solutions and Intercompany Exports business continued the double-digit growth trajectory," Harsha Kadam, managing director and chief executive officer, said in a press release. He said the company's earnings for the June quarter were "marginally impacted" by higher costs due to geopolitical developments.

The company's board has approved the appointment of Amit Dinesh Bhalerao as the chief operating officer, effective Aug. 10.

Wednesday, Schaeffler India's shares ended at INR 4,199.2 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.5% from the previous close. The company announced its quarterly results after market hours. End
