MUMBAI – India recorded 16.5 millimetres of rainfall on Wednesday, 68?ove the normal of 9.8 mm, according to the data from the India Meteorological Department. During Jun. 1–Jul. 22, the country received 293.3 mm of rain, 19?low the normal of 361.5 mm for the period.

 

Of the four homogeneous regions of the country, two regions – northwest India and central India - registered "large excess" rains on Wednesday, while east and northeast India received "normal" rains. South Peninsula received "deficient" rains.

 

The east and northeast received 12?low-normal rains at 12.1 mm of rainfall on Wednesday, while central India recorded 25.9 mm of rainfall, 120% above the normal. South peninsular India registered 42% below-normal rains at 3.9 mm, and northwest India recorded 16.5 mm of rainfall, 114?ove the normal. 

 

On Wednesday, Konkan & Goa received the highest rainfall at 52.5 mm, followed by Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh at 40.3 mm, according to IMD data.

 

Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess" in 13, "excess" in seven, "large deficient" in six, "deficient" in eight, and "normal" in two, according to the data. End
