V-Mart Retail Q1 PAT seen up fourfold QoQ; sales jump

MUMBAI - V-Mart Retail Ltd. is expected to report a fourfold sequential rise in its net profit for the June quarter, as per brokerages tracking the company. On year, the company's net profit for Apr-Jun is expected to rise 30%, while margins are likely to be flat.
V-Mart Retail is likely to report a net profit of INR 437 million for the June quarter, up 321% sequentially, according to the average of estimates from five brokerages. The highest estimate for net profit is INR 590 million from Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd. and the lowest is INR 317 million from 360 ONE Capital Market Pvt. Ltd.
The company's net sales for the June quarter are expected to rise 23% on year to INR 10.89 billion, according to the estimates. Four out of the five brokerages estimate the company's revenues to be INR 10.89 billion, while HDFC Securities Ltd. estimates it at INR 10.90 billion.
V-Mart's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation for the June quarter are seen at INR 1.63 billion, according to the average of four estimates. PhillipCapital (India) Pvt. Ltd. estimates the EBITDA at INR 1.5 billion and Nuvama at INR 1.76 billion. The company's EBITDA margin is likely to be flat on year since operating leverage was offset by higher discounting and store expansion, PhilipCapital said.
The company's on-year same-store sales growth for the reporting quarter was 9%, the company had said in a provisional business update. The ‘V-Mart' brand posted like-for-like sales growth of 8% and the 'Unlimited' brand of 13%. The company added net 14 new stores in the quarter and its total store count at the end of June was 591.
V-Mart Retail will announce the June quarter earnings Friday. At 1256 IST Wednesday, shares of the company were trading 0.6% INR 769.30 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. The stock has risen over 16% since the company reported its March quarter earnings on May 7.
All seven brokerage reports on the company available with Informist have a "buy" or equivalent recommendation on the stock with an average target price of INR 930. This is over 20% higher than the stock's closing price Tuesday.
