NEW DELHI – Sagility Ltd. Tuesday reported a sharp sequential decline in consolidated net profit for the June quarter, alongside a moderation in revenue from operations. Total expenses fell only marginally quarter-on-quarter, resulting in a sharper decline in bottom line than top line. Both net profit and revenue came in slightly below analysts' consensus estimates.
Sagility's consolidated net profit for the June quarter fell almost 16% sequentially but rose 46% on year to INR 2.17 billion. Analysts had pegged the company's bottom line for the quarter at INR 2.36 billion.
The technology player's revenue for the reporting quarter declined 3% sequentially but rose 28% on year to INR 19.63 billion. Analysts had expected the company to post revenue of INR 19.65 billion during the quarter.
In dollar terms, the company reported a consolidated revenue of $207.8 million for the June quarter, up 15.2% year-on-year.
Sagility's total expenses for the reporting quarter declined 0.6% sequentially, but were up 25% on year to INR 16.75 billion. Employee benefit expenses, which account for 73% of the total costs for the June quarter, rose over 24% on year, but declined nearly 4% sequentially to INR 12.28 billion.
The company's adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation fell over 6% on quarter to INR 4.72 billion. The adjusted EBITDA margin narrowed to 24.0% from 24.9% a quarter ago. Its employee count rose to 47,307 as of Jun. 30, compared with 46,860 a quarter earlier. The company won $35.3 million of steady-state annual contract value in Apr-Jun, driven by expansion opportunities, the company said in its investor presentation.
Tuesday, the company's shares ended at INR 41.84 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.3% from the previous close. Sagility detailed its June quarter earnings after market hours. End
