MUMBAI – IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd. reported a double-digit on-year jump in its net profit for the June quarter as the increase in income outpaced the increase in expenses. An improvement in realisation from paying suppliers also benefitted the company's performance.

 

The online marketplace's consolidated net profit for the reporting quarter grew 12% on year to INR 1.72 billion, beating analysts' expectation of INR 1.31 billion. Sequentially, the net profit is up 243%. The company's consolidated revenue from operations for the quarter rose 11.4% on year to INR 4.14 billion, beating the Street's estimate of INR 4.07 billion. Sequentially, the revenues are up 2.5%. The company's other income rose 15% on year to INR 1.07 billion. In the trailing quarter, the company had reported a negative other income of INR 339 million. 

 

The company's total expenses for the quarter rose 11.5% on year to INR 2.75 billion from INR 2.47 billion in the year-ago quarter. The employee benefits expenses increased 8% on year to INR 1.74 billion but were down 2.2% on quarter.

 

IndiaMART's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation came in at INR 1.46 billion for the June quarter, up 10% on year as well as on quarter. It reported an EBITDA margin of 35% for the quarter.

 

The company's consolidated deferred revenue increased 16% on year to INR 20.14 billion, primarily including IndiaMART standalone and Busy Infotech deferred revenues. The company's cash and investment balance was INR 35.53 billion for the June quarter. The company's collections from customers was up 8% on year at INR 4.63 billion.

 

The company's revenues from web and related services rose 8.5% on year to INR 3.76 billion from INR 3.46 billion. Its revenues from the accounting software services business rose to INR 385 million, up 49% on year from INR 258 million. 

 

IndiaMART InterMESH's standalone June quarter net profit grew 6% on year to INR 1.76 billion from INR 1.66 billion in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the net profit was up 153%. The company's standalone total income rose 8% on year to INR 4.64 billion for the reporting quarter from INR 4.30 billion in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially the total income is up 39%.

 

The company has reported a registration of 26 million unique business enquiries in the June quarter. The company's paying suppliers were flat at 218,000 at the end of the quarter, down slightly sequentially. The company's supplier storefront increased 5% on year to 8.8 million.


The company's shares ended at INR 1,918 on the National Stock Exchange, down nearly 1% from Monday after the company announced its June quarter earnings.  End
