MUMBAI – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Tuesday said it will increase prices of its models across its portfolio by up to INR 30,000, effective August, due to a sustained increase in input costs. The exact quantum of the increase will vary from model to model, the automaker said in an exchange filing.
The country's largest car manufacturer said it has been trying to mitigate the impact of the increase in input costs through cost-reduction measures for the past few months. "However, with inflationary burdens now at elevated levels and the adverse cost environment continuing, the company is constrained to pass on a portion of the increased costs to the market, while continuing to ensure that the impact on customers is kept to the minimum extent possible," it said.
For the March quarter, Maruti Suzuki reported a net profit of INR 35.91 billion on revenue of INR 524.49 billion. Tuesday, the company's shares ended at INR 13,597 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.6% from its previous close. End
