MUMBAI – Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC recorded the highest net profit in at least 10 years in the June quarter, as per the data available with Informist. The asset management company's net profit beat the Street's view due to a significant rise in its other income, which was also at least a 10-year high for the quarter.
The company's net profit growth was at a four-quarter high of over 12% on year at INR 3.11 billion in the June quarter. Analysts had expected the company's net profit to fall in the June quarter to INR 2.59 billion from INR 2.77 billion in the same quarter previous year.
This significant rise in the company's net profit was on the back of an almost 40% rise in the company's other income, which was at INR 1.62 billion in the June quarter. Other income contributed 26% to the company's total income of INR 6.18 billion.
However, the company's net revenue from operations, which contributes to the major part of the total income, grew just 3% on year, the lowest growth in 12 quarters. The net revenue from operations was up 3% on year at INR 4.56 billion in the June quarter. The total income rose over 10% on year to at least a 10-year high of INR 6.18 billion. Analysts saw the company's revenue at INR 4.76 billion for the quarter.
Aditya Birla AMC's overall average assets under management including alternate assets was INR 6.28 trillion as of Jun. 30, up 42% on year. The company's quarterly average assets under management grew 6% on year to INR 4.28 trillion in the June quarter.
Equity mutual fund assets under management rose 10% on year to INR 1.99 trillion for the quarter ending Jun. 30. Monthly inflows through systemmetic investment plan was INR 10.85 billion in June. As of Jun. 30, the asset management company serviced 11.1 million folios.
Tuesday, the company's shares ended nearly 7% lower from Monday at INR 1,043.10 apiece on the National Stock exchange. End
