MUMBAI – Authum Investment & Infrastructure Ltd.'s net profit rose for the June quarter after declining for four consecutive quarters. The company's revenue, which had also declined during that period, also registered healthy growth. While its expenses nearly tripled on year, mainly on account of a jump in finance costs, it was unable to dent the bottom line figure significantly.
The non-banking financial company reported an over-18% year-on-year rise in its net profit for the June quarter to INR 11.15 billion. This was several times higher than the INR 455.30 million net profit it reported in the trailing quarter.
The company, which also manages a portfolio of listed and unlisted domestic companies, reported a revenue growth of nearly 20% for the June quarter to INR 14.48 billion. Its other income nearly halved year-on-year to INR 47.3 million from INR 89.9 million in the year-ago quarter.
The company's finance costs almost tripled to INR 582 million and costs classified under "other expenses" more than doubled to INR 533 million. Its total expenses rose nearly three times than the year-ago quarter to INR 2.01 billion. Impairment on financial instruments, the company's biggest cost bracket, also rose several times on year to INR 694 million. Tax cost incurred, however, fell to INR 1.37 billion, down over 31% on year.
Monday, shares of the company closed 3.3% lower at INR 551.95 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. End
