AHMEDABAD – Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. is expected to report a substantial year-on-year jump in its consolidated bottom line and top line for the June quarter, on the back of higher electricity units sold to consumers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, according to analysts. They see commissioning of high-voltage direct current transmission line to Mumbai and high rollout of smart meters across the country as other catalysts for the rise in the company's revenue during the June quarter.

According to the average of estimates from four brokerages, Adani Energy Solutions is expected to report a consolidated net profit of nearly INR 8 billion for the June quarter, up almost 50% year-on-year. The highest estimate for net profit is INR 8.5 billion by Prabhudas Lilladher Pvt. Ltd. and the lowest is INR 6.9 billion by Elara Securities (India) Pvt. Ltd.

The revenue of the transmission and distribution arm of the Adani group for the June quarter is estimated to rise 19% on year to nearly INR 81 billion. The highest estimated revenue is INR 88.5 billion from JM Financial Institutional Securities Pvt. Ltd., and the lowest is INR 74.4 billion by Elara Securities. Compared to the trailing quarter, the net profit of the company is expected to rise over 12% and sales nearly 9%.

JM Financial and Elara Securities stated Adani Energy would benefit from the revenue accrued by commissioning of the 1,000 MW high voltage direct current transmission link to bring bulk power in to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. IDBI Capital Market Services Ltd. said it expects Adani Energy's revenue for the June quarter to rise 6% on year and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation margins to expand 540 basis points year-on-year to 32%, driven by a low base effect as major transmission assets were commissioned during the year. The brokerage also anticipates smart meter rollout to be in line with the management's guidance.

Part of the Adani group, Adani Energy Solutions has a presence across multiple segments of the energy domain, including power transmission, distribution, smart metering, and cooling solutions. It has a cumulative transmission network of 27,949 circuit kilometres and 123,175 megavolt ampere transformation capacity. In its retail electricity distribution business, Adani Energy serves over 3 million consumers in metropolitan Mumbai and the industrial hub of Mundra Special Economic Zone. The company is also ramping up its smart metering business. Adani Energy Solutions successfully delivered 10 million smart meters in February, achieving its target for 2026-27 (Apr-Mar), and has an order book of nearly 25 million more, which translates its revenue potential to over INR 30 billion.

Adani Energy Solutions' earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation are expected to be INR 26.4 billion. The highest estimate for EBITDA is nearly INR 28 billion by Prabhudas Lilladher and the lowest is INR 25 billion by Elara Securities.

Analysts will keep an eye on the company's statements with regard to project commissioning timelines, strategy to acquire smart meter business, contribution by commercial and industrial segment, and status of capex.

Adani Energy Solutions will detail its June quarter earnings on Tuesday. Shares of Adani Energy are up near 21% since it reported March quarter earnings on Apr. 23. On Friday, its shares closed at INR 1722.60 on the National Stock Exchange, nearly 2% higher.

The other two brokerages have 'hold' ratings with an expected average share price of INR 1,450.
