Commerce Minister Goyal calls for strengthening India-Estonia econ ties

NEW DELHI – Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday called for strengthening the economic partnership with Estonia to benefit mutually from the free trade agreement between India and the European Union. India and the European Union have agreed to sign the final documentation for the free trade agreement by the end of 2026 and hope to operationalise it between February and March 2027.
"We can combine Estonia's agility and technical depth with India's scale and talent and possibly our designed capabilities, which will help make your technology scalable, affordable and cost-competitive," Goyal said at the India-Estonia Business Forum.
Estonia, Goyal said, would be a key partner for India in the years to come. "For Indian businesses, Estonia's innovation ecosystem will help come into the Nordic Baltic region and work in the European market even better," he said.
Both countries can catalyse business together in various segments such as digital public infrastructure, e-governance, ports logistics and maritime connectivity, Goyal said. They could collaborate on sustainable agriculture, agriculture technology and defence and security technology as well, he added. End
