MUMBAI – Cement stocks are expected to remain in a consolidated phase next week as long as the sectoral index, Nifty Cement, is below the immediate resistance of 15500 level. "A decisive break above 15500 spot levels could drag it towards 16000 and higher levels in near term," Vipin Kumar, assistant vice-president of research at Globe Capital Market, said.

Shares of UltraTech Cement will be in focus as the company will announce its June quarter earnings Monday. The rise in operating costs is likely to offset the company's revenue gains for the June quarter. UltraTech Cement is expected to outperform other cement companies on both volume and revenue growth in the reporting quarter.

The company is expected to report a consolidated bottom line of INR 24.99 billion, which would translate to a 10% on-year rise, but a fall of 17% sequentially. UltraTech Cement's consolidated revenue from operations for the reporting quarter is estimated at INR 240.46 billion, up 13% on year and down 6.8% on quarter.

"While cement price hikes remain an ongoing concern, the industry is likely to make further attempts to pass on input cost pressures," Nirmal Bang Institutional Equities said in its sector report. However, the brokerage does not expect any meaningful price hikes in the near term due to increased competition. Over the near-to-medium term, any significant correction in cement prices is not projected, said the brokerage.

"We do not expect cement prices to go up QoQ (on quarter) in Q2FY27E (Jul-Sept), as demand softens with monsoon progressing," HDFC Securities said in a sector report. "However, fuel cost pressure will continue to build QoQ along with the seasonal op-lev loss."
