WeWork India to use Securities Premium Account to set off INR 20.5-bln loss

MUMBAI – WeWork India Ltd.'s board has approved using the company's Securities Premium Account balance to set off losses, according to an exchange filing Thursday. The company will set off losses of INR 20.50 billion that have been accumulated till Mar. 31. Post this, the Securities Premium Account will have a balance of INR 1.09 billion.

 

The plan is yet to be approved by shareholders and the National Company Law Tribunal, the filing said. "The proposed reduction will enable the Company to eliminate accumulated losses from its books of account and present a true and fair view of its financial position," it said. "The restructuring does not involve any reduction of the issued, subscribed or paid-up equity share capital of the Company, any payment or distribution to shareholders, or any cash outflow, and has no impact on the Company's net worth, operations, or ability to meet its obligations to creditors."

 

On Thursday, the company reported a consolidated net loss of INR 43.06 million for the June quarter on revenue of INR 6.84 billion. Its shares closed at INR 728.05 per share on the National Stock Exchange, up over 1% from Wednesday.  End
