Waaree Energies arm starts manufacture of battery energy storage containers

MUMBAI – Waaree Energies Ltd. Thursday said its subsidiary, Waaree Energy Storage Solutions Pvt. Ltd., has announced the commencement of its battery energy storage system container manufacturing facility. The facility has an upgraded capacity of 5.15 gigawatt-hours, from the originally planned capacity of 3.5 gigawatt-hours on the back of debottlenecking of production throughput and improved energy density of battery cells.

 

The container manufacturing facility is equipped with advanced technologies, automated guided vehicles, and advanced testing and quality assurance systems, among other features, according to a press release from Waaree Energies. The facility is designed for utility scale as well as commercial and industrial applications.

 

The start of the facility is the first milestone in Waaree Energy Storage Solutions' manufacturing roadmap of 20 gigawatt-hours. In the current financial year, the Waaree Energies subsidiary aims to operationalise a 5.15 gigawatt-hour battery pack manufacturing facility and a 3.5 gigawatt-hour lithium cell manufacturing facility. Through this integrated manufacturing approach, the company is constructing comprehensive energy storage platforms, according to the press release.

 

Thursday, shares of Waaree Energies closed at INR 2,830.30 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.6% from Wednesday. For the March quarter, the company had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 10.61 billion on revenues of INR 84.80 billion.  End
