Cabinet OKs two railway projects in Odisha, Jharkhand with INR-39-bln outlay

NEW DELHI – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved two railway projects in Odisha and Jharkhand with a total outlay of INR 39.07 billion. These projects include doubling of Paradip–Haridaspur and a fourth line between Rajkharsawan and Dangoaposi, the government said.
The multi-tracking of railway lines will streamline operations and alleviate congestion. "The proposed capacity enhancement will improve rail connectivity to several prominent tourist destinations across the country, including Lalitgiri Buddhist Complex, Shree Baladevjew Temple, Meghahatuburu Hills, etc," the government said in a release.
These routes are used for transportation of commodities such as coal, iron ore, dolomite, limestone, and gypsum. The capacity augmentation works will result in additional freight traffic of 44 million tonnes per annum, the government said, adding that the projects will be completed by 2030-31 (Apr-Mar). End
