--Ather Energy to raise up to INR 12 bln via equity
MUMBAI – The board of Ather Energy Ltd. on Wednesday approved raising up to INR 12 billion through the issuance of 1.63 million equity shares at an issue price of INR 1,230 each to India-Japan Fund, 7.94 million convertible warrants at an issue price of INR 1,260 each to Hero MotoCorp Ltd., and to co-founders Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain on a preferential basis.
Post the allocation, the stake of India-Japan Fund in Ather Energy will rise to 6.02% from 5.75%, and that of Hero MotoCorp will rise to 30.68% from 29.48%. Co-founders Mehta and Jain will see their holdings fall to 4.85% each from 4.93% now, the company said in an exchange filing. India-Japan Fund is a qualified institutional buyer.
India-Japan Fund, represented by the state-run National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Ltd., will invest INR 2 billion in Ather Energy, while Hero MotoCorp will subscribe to warrants worth INR 9.60 billion. Mehta and Jain will invest INR 200 million each.
Tuesday, the board of Hero MotoCorp had approved investing an additional INR 10 billion in Ather Energy through equity shares. Ather Energy is an associate company of Hero MotoCorp. The two-wheeler company had first invested in Bengaluru-based Ather Energy in 2016, when it had poured in INR 1.80 billion for 26% stake.
For the March quarter, Ather Energy reported a net loss of INR 1.00 billion on revenues of INR 11.75 billion. At 1455 IST, its shares traded 7% higher at INR 1,286.20 on the National Stock Exchange. End
