MUMBAI – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Tuesday opened bookings for the facelift of its compact sports utility vehicle Brezza. While the price of the new model has not been disclosed yet, bookings can be made at INR 11,000, the company said in an exchange filing.

 

Currently priced from INR 825,900, Maruti Suzuki launched the Brezza in March 2016 as the 'Vitara Brezza'. At the time, it was available only with a 1.3 litre DDis diesel engine, which was sourced from Fiat. Maruti Suzuki no longer makes cars with diesel engines to comply with stricter emission norms. 

 

The company launched a redesigned version of the model, called Brezza, in 2022, featuring multiple product upgrades. The sub-4-metre car is now available with petrol and compressed natural gas powertrains. 

Among Maruti Suzuki's most successful sports utility vehicles, the Brezza competes with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.'s Nexon, Hyundai Motor India Ltd.'s Venue, Kia's Sonet, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s XUV 3XO, and, to an extent, its own new SUV, Victoris. 

 

For the March quarter, Maruti Suzuki had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 35.91 billion on revenue of INR 524.49 billion. Tuesday, the company's shares closed 1.5% lower at INR 13,489 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
