India, Spain hold talks to strengthen economy partnership via trade, investment

NEW DELHI – India and Spain Monday held "productive" discussions on strengthening economic partnership through greater trade, investment, and technology collaboration, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, who is leading a high-level Indian business delegation to Spain, Belgium, and Finland this week, said in a post on social media platform X.
The discussion between Goyal and Spain's First Vice-President and Economy, Trade, and Business Minister Carlos Cuerpo focussed on renewable energy, green hydrogen, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, infrastructure, and innovation. "We also exchanged views on the India-EU (European Union) Free Trade Agreement and explored ways to deepen business ties and expand India's commercial engagement with Spain as a valued partner," Goyal said.
After concluding the trade deal in January this year, India and the EU are expected to sign a free trade agreement by the end of 2026. End
