MUMBAI – Just Dial Ltd. reported a double-digit sequential growth in its net profit for the June quarter supported by a sharp rise in other income. The gain in other income was the highest in two years. The number of users that led the traffic on the company's platforms was the highest in three quarters.
For Apr-Jun, the domestic search engine company reported a net profit of INR 1.66 billion, up over 66% on quarter and 4% on year. This was higher than the estimate of INR 1.30 billion by Kotak Institutional Equities, the only brokerage with a bottom line view on the company. The top line of the company grew nearly 7% on quarter to INR 3.27 billion, up nearly 10% on year. The revenue was in line with Kotak's estimate of INR 3 billion.
The other income of the company nearly tripled sequentially to INR 1.31 billion from INR 486.2 million reported in the previous quarter. On an on-year basis, other income was up over 3%. Just Dial's total income for the reporting quarter rose nearly 29% sequentially to INR 4.59 billion.
Total expenses of the company grew over 9% on quarter and nearly 12% on year to INR 2.52 billion. Among this, employee benefits expenses, which constituted the most of the costs, rose nearly 9% on quarter to INR 2 billion. Other expenses gained nearly 17% seqeuntially to INR 401.6 million.
The Mumbai-based company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation fell nearly 2% on quarter to INR 874 million. EBITDA margin for the June quarter contracted 221 basis points to 26.7% from 28.9% reported in the March quarter. The margin failed to meet Kotak's estimate of 29.2%.
Unique visitors--a metric that shows the total number of users that visited the company's platforms during a specific period--was at 192.9 million users for the June quarter, up nearly 6% sequentially. Of this, the number of mobile users gained nearly 7% sequentially to 166.8 million. The number of desktop users fell over 2% on quarter to 20.5 million. Paid campaigns of the company grew over 1% sequentially to 639,200. Over 44 million users downloaded Just Dial platforms, this was the highest in two years.
"We started FY27 on a strong note, with revenue growing 6.6% QoQ (quarter-on-quarter), our fastest sequential growth in a decade outside the post-COVID recovery period," said Shwetank Dixit, chief growth officer at Just Dial in a press release.
Just Dial appointed Dinkar Ayilavarapu as the chief executive officer of the company with effect from Aug. 1. The company also appointed Dinesh Taluja as chief financial officer from Saturday.
On Friday, shares of the company ended over 3% higher at INR 564.05 on the National Stock Exchange. End
