NEW DELHI – Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. plans to increase its network bed capacity to 10,184 by the end of the financial year 2029-30 (Apr-Mar) through brownfield, greenfield and partner healthcare projects, backed by an estimated capital outlay of INR 66.72 billion, according to its FY26 annual report. As of May, Max Healthcare's network had capacity of 6,131 beds.
The expansion pipeline comprises brownfield projects at hospitals in Mumbai, Saket, Gurugram, Nagpur, Vaishali, Dwarka, and Patparganj, a greenfield project at Shaheed Path, Lucknow, and partner healthcare facilities in Thane, Pitampura, Zirakpur and Dehradun.
The hospital operator plans to add 645 beds in FY27, followed by 500 beds in FY28, 1,458 beds in FY29 and 1,450 beds in FY30. It expects to incur capital expenditure of INR 16.37 billion, INR 22.80 billion, INR 17.70 billion and INR 9.85 billion, respectively, for these projects. The estimates exclude land costs, routine maintenance capital expenditure and projects yet to be formalised.
Other than planned addition of 4,053 beds by the end of FY30, the company has also identified another 4,262-bed expansion opportunity, taking its long-term potential network capacity to more than 14,500 beds. The company is yet to formalise plans for this next phase of expansion.
The company said it has substantially commissioned the 280-bed phase-I brownfield expansion tower at Nanavati-Max Super Speciality Hospital in Mumbai, while construction of the 271-bed phase-II expansion is scheduled to begin in FY27. It also said the remaining capacity at Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, will be commissioned in phases.
The company said North India will continue to remain its primary growth market, with 83% of its network bed capacity located in the region and nearly 76% concentrated in the National Capital Region, reflecting the strategic importance of the geography to its expansion plans.
"We will deepen our presence in metro cities, expand into strategically important Tier-I and Tier-II markets, and continue to grow our diagnostics and home healthcare verticals into nationally significant platforms," the company said in the annual report.
In its annual report, Max Healthcare stated it would continue to deepen its out-of-hospital care offerings by building integrated, end-to-end care pathways across recovery, chronic management, and long-term care, aligned with evolving patient needs. A key priority will be driving the adoption and further development of KonnectCare, Max@Home's unified digital platform, to strengthen operational visibility, streamline workflows, and facilitate enhanced fleet utilisation through better task allocation and resource optimisation.
For the March quarter, Max Healthcare Institute reported a consolidated net profit of INR 3.42 billion on revenues of INR 21.43 billion. On Thursday, shares of the company ended at INR 1,101.30 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.5%. End
