MUMBAI – Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Thursday recalled select batches of Semalix injection disposable pens, following a product recall notification from its manufacturer Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. Torrent Pharmaceuticals has recalled select batches of the two milligram and four milligram Semalix injections manufactured by Dr. Reddy's, the company said in an exchange filing.

 

All other Semaglutide products being sold by Torrent Pharma, including the oral formulation, "remain completely unaffected," the company said. "Patient safety is of paramount importance to us. There is no risk to patients already on this treatment because of this recall," Torrent Pharma said.

 

The unaffected products include Semalix tablets of 3 mg, 7 mg, and 14 mg, and Sembolic tablets of the same doses, which are manufactured by Torrent itself. Other unaffected products are Semalix injection 8 mg, manufactured by MSN Laboratories, and Sembolic re-usable injection, manufactured by Zydus Lifesciences Ltd., according to the filing.

 

Earlier in the day, Dr. Reddy's said the commercial supply of Semaglutide will be delayed for some time after some batches of the drug were found to be out of specification due to an issue with its active pharmaceutical ingredient.

 

Thursday, Torrent Pharmaceuticals' shares closed at INR 4,898.20 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.7% from the previous close. For the March quarter, the company had reported a net profit of INR 3.89 billion on revenues of INR 41.97 billion.  End
