NEW DELHI – Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. said it will continue to expand its innovative medicines business while strengthening its market position across geographies. The company's key priorities for the financial year 2026-27 (Apr-Mar) include scaling up the recently launched drugs, LEQSELVI and UNLOXCYT, in the US, sustaining growth across India and international markets, and restoring manufacturing facilities to full regulatory compliance, according to its annual report. While LEQSELVI is used to treat severe hair loss caused by alopecia areata, UNLOXCYT is used to treat a type of advanced skin cancer.

The company said innovative medicines contributed 22% of consolidated sales in FY26 and, for the first time, accounted for a larger share in US revenue than its generics business, reflecting a gradual shift towards higher-value therapies. During FY26, Sun Pharma launched LEQSELVI and UNLOXCYT in the US, while in India it entered the glucagon-like-peptide-1 receptor agonist segment with the launch of semaglutide under the Noveltreat and Sematrinity brands. For FY26, the company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 114.79 billion, up 5% on year, while revenue rose over 11% to INR 584.62 billion.

Sun Pharma also said ensuring timely completion of its proposed acquisition of Organon & Co. and planning the integration of the business would remain important priorities, as the deal is expected to strengthen its innovative medicines portfolio and expand its international presence. In April, the company entered into a definitive agreement to acquire US-based healthcare company Organon & Co. for $14 a share in an all-cash transaction with an enterprise value of $11.75 billion. The acquisition, expected to be completed by early 2027, will be funded through a combination of available cash resources and bank loans. Organon will be merged with a subsidiary of Sun Pharma.

The company added that the external environment is expected to remain challenging, with evolving regulatory frameworks, pricing-related developments and geopolitical uncertainties likely to continue influencing the pharmaceutical industry. Tuesday, shares of the company closed 0.2% lower at INR 1,903.40 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
