MUMBAI – The Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. Tuesday said it has signed 20 hotels during the June quarter and opened 11 new ones. The Tata group company's total portfolio stood at 645 hotels as of Jun. 30, with more than 66,000 keys. This includes 263 hotels in the launch pipeline and 382 operating ones, the company said in a press release.
Of the 20 hotels signed during the June quarter, 17 were across Gateway, Ginger, and Tree of Life, Suma Venkatesh, executive vice president of real estate and development at the company, said in a press release. These include new destinations and emerging markets such as Bharatpur, Trichy, Sindhudurg, Jawai, and Wayanad, and deeper penetration in Mumbai, Goa, Agra, and Kolkata, Venkatesh said. "Taj reached a milestone of 150 hotel portfolio with three signings this quarter, growing its leisure footprint to Dharamshala, Barapani in Meghalaya and Kusur valley in Maharashtra," Venkatesh said. Indian Hotels said it is on track to achieve its target of a portfolio of 700 hotels by 2030.
The company opened Taj Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, Germany, and Taj Bush Lodge in Greater Kruger, South Africa during the quarter, Deepika Rao, executive vice president of hotel openings and new businesses, said. The SeleQtions portfolio grew with the addition of Ayodhayam in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and Bandra House in Mumbai. Gateway expanded with a new hotel in Kandla in Gujarat.
For the March quarter, Indian Hotels had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 6 billion on revenues of INR 27.7 billion. At 1312 IST, shares of the company traded at INR 745.6 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, 1% higher than Monday. End
