MUMBAI – The government will sell up to 5.04% stake in Cochin Shipyard Ltd. through an offer for sale, Arunish Chawla, secretary in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, said Monday. The offer for sale will open Tuesday for non-retail investors and on Wednesday for retail investors, Chawla said in a post on X.
The issue includes a base issue of 2.52% and a greenshoe option of 2.52%, the secretary said. The floor price for the offer for sale has been fixed at INR 1,400 per share. The floor price is at a discount of over 7% to the stock's closing price Monday, which ended at INR 1,506.40 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.2% from Friday.
The government currently holds 67.91% stake in Cochin Shipyard. If the government exercises the greenshoe option, its shareholding in the company will come down to 62.87?ter the offer for sale. Based on the floor price of the offer, the government will raise around INR 6.30 billion by selling 2.52% stake in Cochin Shipyard. The government has set an ambitious target of INR 800 billion from miscellaneous capital receipts in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar).
For the March quarter, Cochin Shipyard had reported a net profit of INR 2.16 billion on revenues of INR 12.14 billion. End
