Govt OKs acquisition proposals worth INR 520 bln for defence forces

NEW DELHI – The Defence Acquisition Council Friday gave an in-principle approval to various acquisition proposals for the defence forces for estimated INR 520 billion. For the Indian Army, approval was given for the procurement of Anti-Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Electronic Warfare System 'AKASH TARANG', Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile Systems, Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile Weapon System, Very Short Range Air Defence System, Active Protection System for Tanks and Jet Based Kamikaze Drone System, a government release said.
For the Indian Navy, approval was given for the procurement of Multi Influence Ground Mine, Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial System and the setting-up of Land Based Testing Facility for Electric Propulsion System. While for the Indian Air Force, the approval was accorded for the procurement of Fixed-Wing Based High Altitude Pseudo Satellite and other proposals. End
