KOLKATA – Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. Thursday reported a 15.3% on-year decline in retail sales of Jaguar and Land Rover brands of vehicles for the June quarter at 80,000 units. Wholesale sales volume during the quarter declined 9.2% on year to 79,300 units. Sequentially, retail sales were down 13.8% and wholesale volume was down 16.8%, the company said in a statement.

Volumes were affected by temporary supply constraints, including a fire at a major component supplier at the start of the quarter; market disruption linked to the conflict in West Asia; and the planned winding down of outgoing Jaguar models ahead of the launch of Jaguar Type 01, the company said in the statement.

Even as wholesale sales volumes declined on year for the company's Jaguar-Land Rover division, it increased 4.5% on year in West Asia and North Africa. However, sales in North America were flat on year, and sales declined 5.9% in the UK, by 12.1% in Europe, and by 26.2% in China.

On other hand, even retail sales were down across all regions globally wherever Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles are sold. Retail volumes were down 1.8% on year in the UK, 11.4% down in Europe, 13.1% down in North America, and 23.9% down in China. Even in the West Asian and North African region, retail sales declined 41.5% on year.
