M&M Jun SUV sales growth at 8-mo high of 28% YoY, total auto sales up 37%

MUMBAI – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s despatches of sports utility vehicles to dealerships rose 28% on year and 4% on month in June to 60,393 units, the company informed exchanges Wednesday. This was the highest year-on-year growth in sales of its SUVs since October 2025, when wholesale volumes had risen over 31% on year. M&M sold 106,207 automobile units in June, up 37%.
Including exports, the total sales of the Thar-maker's passenger vehicles to dealers stood at 61,504 units. Overall, despatches of commercial vehicles in June were 26,076 units. The company sold 3,508 light commercial vehicles to dealerships in June, up 36% on year. These vehicles have a payload capacity of less than 2 tonnes. Sales of light commercial vehicles with a payload capacity of over 2 tonnes but below 3.5 tonnes grew 35% on year to 22,568 units. Despatches of three-wheelers surged 63% on year to 13,820 units. Exports by M&M more than doubled on year to 5,918 units.
In the June quarter, the company sold 174,745 utility vehicles to dealerships in India, registering growth of 15% on year. The company exported 15,888 automobile units in the quarter, up 64% on year.
FARM SEGMENT
M&M sold 59,935 tractors in June, up 12% on year. In India, the company sold 58,177 tractors, up 12% on year. "While it is early to assess the full impact of emerging El Nio conditions, strong government interventions like sustained fertilizer subsidies and targeted support measures at the local level are expected to mitigate some of the risk to farmers and cushion its impact to the Kharif season," Veejay Nakra, president – farm equipment business, M&M, said. In the June quarter, the company sold 152,426 tractors in the domestic market, up 18% on year, and overall sales were 158,041 units, up 18% on year.
TRUCKS & BUSES
Despatches of the company's trucks and buses, including exports, rose 5% on year to 3,249 units. Sales in this segment comprise despatches by Mahindra Trucks & Buses division and SML Mahindra Ltd.
Of this, despatches of cargo vehicles fell 11% on year to 1,138 units in June. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles by this business grew 16% on year to 2,111 units.
For the quarter ended March, M&M had reported a net profit of INR 37.37 billion and revenue of INR 395.54 billion. At 1031 IST, its shares traded over 3% higher at INR 3,161.90 on the National Stock Exchange. End
