NEW DELHI – Bharti Airtel Ltd. has allotted 146.76 million fully paid-up equity shares, or 2.35% stake, to Indian Continent Investment Ltd. as consideration for acquiring the latter's 16.3% stake in Airtel Africa Plc, according to an exchange filing. Following the allotment, Indian Continent Investment's holding in Bharti Airtel increased to 202.73 million shares, or 3.25%, from 55.97 million shares, or 0.92%, before the transaction.

The share allotment was completed on Tuesday and is part of the previously announced share swap through which Bharti Airtel acquired the remaining 16.3% stake in its UK-listed subsidiary, Airtel Africa, from Indian Continent Investment. Bharti Airtel's paid-up equity share capital increased to INR 31.20 billion, comprising 6.24 billion fully paid-up equity shares and 1.11 billion partly paid-up equity shares, following the allotment.

For the March quarter, Bharti Airtel had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 73.25 billion on revenue of INR 553.83 billion. At 1157 IST, its shares were at INR 1,868 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.4%.  End
