MUMBAI – Biocon Ltd.'s subsidiary will supply insulin to Malasiya-based Duopharma (M) Sendirian Berhad for the latter's contracts worth 225 million Malaysian ringgits (over INR 5 billion), Biocon said in an exchange filing Wednesday. Biocon's subsidiary will supply short-acting recombinant human insulin, insulin glargine, and insulin aspart to the Malasiyan company.
While the filing didn't specify how much the Indian company stands to get from the contract, a company spokesperson said Biocon was the only supplier for Duopharma's insulin order. Duopharma has got the contract from Malaysia's Ministry of Health. The contract includes a three-year pact to supply human insulin worth 155.27 million Malaysian ringgits, and a two-year pact for insulin aspart and insulin glargine worth 70.5 million Malaysian ringgits.
Biocon has been suppling insulin to Duopharma since 2016 for diabetic patients in Malasiya. "Beyond diabetes care, both companies have also worked closely in oncology for more than seven years and have recently expanded into ophthalmology biologics, further improving access to high quality biologic therapies for patients across Malaysia," the company said in the release.
For the March quarter, Biocon reported a consolidated net profit of INR 1.26 billion on revenues of INR 45.17 billion. At 1123 IST, its shares were at INR 422.50 on the National Stock Exchange. End
