--Govt nominates Debasish Prusty as director of GIC, effective immediately
NEW DELHI – The government has nominated Department of Financial Services Additional Secretary Debasish Prusty as director on the board of General Insurance Corp. of India with immediate effect, the state-owned reinsurer Friday said.
Prusty is an Indian Administrative Service officer with more than 26 years of experience in policymaking in public finance, sustainable development, and development cooperation and environmental and urban governance. He has a Doctor of Philosophy from the Management Department of the Manipal University, Jaipur, and holds a the Master of Philosophy in environmental sciences from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
For the March quarter, General Insurance Corp. reported net profit of INR 22.54 billion on total income of INR 121.60 billion. On Friday, the company's shares ended 3.3% higher at INR 368.70 on the National Stock Exchange. End
