MUMBAI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India Friday has approved 'GARUDA' or 'Green-Channel: AIF Rollout Upon Document Acknowledgement' mechanism for processing of placement memorandum of alternative investment funds. This scheme is to enable the regulator's ease of doing business measure, SEBI said after concluding its board meeting Friday.
"In continuation of recent initiative taken by SEBI to reduce the timelines for launch of schemes, to enable faster and more efficient deployment of capital by AIFs, the Board has approved GARUDA," the regulator said.
In view of this measure, the regulator reduced the timeline for the launch of non-accredited investor schemes, which excludes large-value funds and accredited investors-only schemes and angel funds to 10 working days from 30 days earlier. Accredited investors-only schemes and angel funds have been exempted from filing Private Placement Memorandum through merchant banker and permitted to launch immediately upon grant of SEBI registration or filing of the memorandum with SEBI.
