MUMBAI – Global index provider MSCI will remove Vedanta Ltd. from its Standard and Large Cap indices on Monday. Earlier, MSCI had said Vedanta would be removed from the two indices Thursday and Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. be added instead.
This follows the demerger of Vedanta, which was primarily a mining company, into five companies. Vedanta Aluminium Metal Ltd., Vedanta Power Ltd., Vedanta Oil and Gas Ltd., and Vedanta Iron and Steel Ltd. made their debut on the National Stock Exchange and BSE earlier this week. After the demerger, Vedanta's smaller market capitalisation made it ineligible to be a part of the two indices.
For the quarter ended March, Vedanta reported a consolidated net profit of INR 66.98 billion on revenues of INR 246.09 billion. On Wednesday, shares of the company closed over 2% higher at INR 306.50 on the National Stock Exchange. End
