NEW DELHI – Cipla Ltd. will focus on strengthening its respiratory therapies across its US and African businesses in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar). The company also plans to expand its presence in biosimilars, chronic therapies, and differentiated product launches in FY27, according to the company's annual report.

For the US business, the company is targeting market leadership in respiratory volume over the next five years. "Supported by strong commercial execution in Albuterol and launch readiness for high-value respiratory assets such as gSymbicort and gAdvair," the company said in its Annual report for FY26.

Cipla said it's well-positioned to cover 70% of the respiratory market opportunity by size in the US through products launched, filed, or those under development. In April, the company received approval for gVentolin, the first commercial metered-dose inhaler product to be manufactured at the US facility.

Across Africa, the company plans to deepen its respiratory leadership. In Sub-Saharan Africa, it aims to build on its market leadership in respiratory and gastroenterology while scaling its cardiovascular and diabetes footprint. "With channel inventory levels normalising following the destocking cycle, primary and secondary growth are expected to realign in FY 2026-27, providing a stronger foundation for top-line recovery and long-term value creation across the region," the company said.

For North and West Africa, the company plans to strengthen its respiratory and central nervous system leadership, expand the oncology portfolio, and deepen regional partnerships. "The focus will remain on portfolio expansion in speciality therapy and strengthening institutional and B2B (business-to-business) market access, positioning North Africa as a key growth engine within Cipla's One Africa business," the company said.

In the US business, Cipla is expanding its biosimilars presence with the launch of Filgrastim injection, its first biosimilar product in the US, and ongoing development through its partnership with Kemwell, alongside exploration of licensing opportunities to further accelerate growth in this segment. Further, the company will continue to focus on complex injectables and differentiated products for FY27.

For the South African business, the company wants to improve profitability and portfolio optimisation, and expand beyond antiretroviral therapies and into adjacent segments. In the emerging markets and Europe, Cipla is advancing a differentiated product pipeline and strengthening its direct-to-market business.

In its branded prescription business, Cipla plans to launch new products in anti-obesity, anti-diabetes, antimicrobial resistance, and respiratory therapies in FY27. The company will continue to focus on volume- and new-introduction-driven growth to mitigate the impact of changes driven by the National List of Essential Medicines.

For active pharmaceutical ingredients, the company will continue to focus on onboarding new pipeline molecules and enhancing its market presence through organic launches, partnering with innovators, and tapping the untapped markets for FY27.

For FY26, the company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 38.79 billion, down over 26% from INR 52.73 billion in the previous year, while revenue rose marginally to INR 281.63 billion from INR 275.48 billion.

For the March quarter, Cipla reported a consolidated net profit of INR 5.55 billion on revenues of INR 65.41 billion. Tuesday, shares of the company ended at INR 1,373.20 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.6 from the previous close.  End
