MUMBAI – Analysts expect the stocks of cement companies to move up gradually in the near term. They see selective stocks go up despite the monsoon season. Most cement stocks gained significantly for the week. The Nifty 50 cement constituent UltraTech Cement ended Friday's session with nearly 3% gains.
"Valuations have corrected in last 3 months, stocks should move up gradually," Tushar Chaudhari, cement sector analyst at Prabhudas Lilladher, said. "As monsoon is weak period, v shape recovery won't happen, but selective stocks will go up," he said. Chaudhari also remains positive on UltraTech Cement, JK Cement, and JSW Cement.
"We remain constructive on the long-term sector (cement) outlook on the back of the ongoing sector consolidation," brokerage SMIFS said in its report. "The Indian cement sector is poised for steady growth, with cement demand expected to rise further in FY27 driven by government infrastructure spending and initiatives to boost rural income are expected to drive demand for housing, benefitting cement consumption. As companies shift their focus from consolidation to enhancing organic growth via improved performance, efficiency and margins, cement prices are further expected to rise steadily."
SMIFS sees The Ramco Cements' earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation per tonne to improve in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar) and FY28, driven by improvement in realisations, focus on cost optimisation (increase in share of green power, through better fuel and freight cost) and positive operating leverage. Shares of the company closed over 3% higher Friday.
