SG Mart promoter gifts 35% stake in co worth about INR 27 bln to brother

MUMBAI – SG Mart Ltd. Tuesday said that its promoter Sameer Gupta will gift 44.20 million equity shares or 35.1% stake in the company to his brother Sanjay Gupta. The transfer will make Sanjay Gupta the single largest shareholder of the company and reduce Sameer Gupta's stake to zero, the company said in an exchange filing.
At the current market price, the shares will be valued at INR 27.37 billion. The shares will be transferred by way of gift and there is no consideration involved, the company said.
Tuesday, shares of SG Mart closed 7.4% higher at INR 619.40 on the National Stock Exchange. For the March quarter, the company reported net profit of INR 414.70 million on revenues of INR 18.23 billion. End
