--JSW Infra gets order to develop Kolkata port under 30-yr pact

NEW DELHI – JSW Infrastructure Ltd. Tuesday said the company has received a letter of award from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority in Kolkata to build two outer container handling berths and take over five existing berths at the Netaji Subhas Dock. The project has been awarded on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer basis under the public-private partnership framework, the company said in an exchange filing.

The concession will be valid for 30 years from the date of award of the concession, as per the filing. Further, the concession agreement will be executed within 30 days from the date of issuance of the letter of award, or such extended period as is mutually agreed, the company said.

The project will be executed in two phases and is expected to create a total capacity of about 930,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, as per the filing. Upon completion, and including the capacity from the ongoing Berth 7 and Berth 8 project, the company's combined container handling capacity at the Kolkata Dock System is expected to be scaled up to about 1.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units, JSW Infrastructure said.

"Upon completion of the identified container growth projects, the company's overall container handling capacity is expected to increase to approximately 1.8 million TEUs," JSW Infrastructure further said, adding that the addition of incremental container capacity is aligned with its strategy of diversifying into the container segment and progressively scaling up its third-party cargo business, thereby enhancing its overall cargo mix across geographies.

For the quarter ended March, JSW Infrastructure reported a consolidated net profit of INR 4.18 billion on revenues of INR 15.22 billion. Tuesday, its shares ended 5.4% higher at INR 282.80 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
