--JSW Energy commissions wind blade manufacturing plant in Gujarat

MUMBAI – JSW Energy Ltd. said on Monday it has commissioned a wind blade manufacturing plant at Halol in Gujarat. The plant has an annual production capacity of 450 wind blades, equivalent to 600 megawatts of wind projects, the company said in an exchange filing. The plant will manufacture 82-metre wind blades compatible with 4 megawatt wind turbine generators, the company said.

The in-house manufacturing capability will enable the company to de-risk its supply chain and further optimise capital expenditure on wind energy projects by reducing logistics and other input costs, it said. This also insulates the company from fluctuations in input prices for wind blades.

JSW Energy has another plant in Chitradurga, Karnataka, which is in the advanced stages of commissioning. The company currently has an installed wind energy capacity of 3.9 gigawatts. It also has 6.5 gigawatts of locked-in hybrid capacity and 2.4 gigawatts of plain-vanilla locked-in wind projects.

JSW Energy aims to reach 30 gigawatts of generation capacity and 40 gigawatt-hour of energy storage capacity by 2030, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 3.72 billion for the March quarter on revenues of INR 44.99 billion. On Monday, the company's shares closed at INR 570.95 on the National Stock Exchange, down 2.3% from the previous close.  End
