Tata Motors' CV despatches jump 17% YoY in May, exports fall 9%

MUMBAI – Tata Motors Ltd. Monday said it sold 32,850 commercial vehicles in May, up 17% on year, mainly driven by strength in small cargo and pickup vehicles. Its exports fell 9% on year to 2,066 units while domestic sales grew 19% to 30,784 units.
Small cargo and pick-up vehicles contributed, by far, the most to Tata Motors' commercial vehicle sales volume. This segment also registered the strongest year-on-year growth among all as its despatches surged 30% on year to 11,819 units. Passenger carriers also performed well as their wholesale sales in India grew 21% on year to 5,757 units in May.
Tata Motors sold 7,877 heavy commercial vehicles in May, up 11% on year, and 5,331 units of intermediate, light, and medium commercial vehicles, up 8% on year.
For the March quarter, Tata Motors reported a net profit of INR 24.06 billion on revenue of INR 244.52 billion. At 1352 IST, shares of Tata Motors traded nearly a percent lower at INR 375.85 on the National Stock Exchange. End
