MUMBAI – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Monday said it sold a record 242,688 automobile units to dealerships in India and abroad in May, up 35% on year but only a percent more on month. This includes domestic sales of 200,774 vehicles, up 35% on year and exports of 41,914 units, up 34%. 

 

Maruti Suzuki sold 190,337 passenger vehicles in May, up 40% on year. This includes sales of 16,275 mini cars in May, compared to 6,776 units sold a year ago. Models sold by the company in this segment include the Alto and S-Presso.

 

The despatches of its compact and mid-size cars grew 32% on year to 81,555 units in May. Models in this segment include Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR. Combined, the company sold 97,830 passenger cars in May, up 42% on year. Maruti Suzuki also sold 13,240 Eeco vans to dealerships in India in May, up 7% on year. 

 

The Gurugram-based automaker sold 3,198 light commercial vehicles in May, up 17% on year but down 6% on month. Maruti Suzuki sold 7,239 passenger vehicles to other carmakers in May, down 29% on year and nearly 15% on month. 

 

APR-MAY

Maruti Suzuki has sold 482,334 cars in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar) so far, up 34% on year. Domestic sales by the company has grown 33% on year to 400,366 units while exports have risen nearly 39% to 81,968 units. Despatches of its utility vehicles in Apr-May have grown 38% on year to 157,159 units.

 

For the March quarter, Maruti Suzuki's net profit was INR 35.91 billion on revenues of INR 524.49 billion. At 1203 IST, shares of the company traded 0.7% lower at INR 13,030 on the National Stock Exchange.   End
