--Zee Entertainment to launch 4 sports channels under 'Unite8 Sports' names

MUMBAI – Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. will launch four sports channels under the 'Unite8 Sports' names, which will offer key events across football, kabaddi, cricket, badminton, wrestling, and boxing, among others, according to an exchange filing by the company Tuesday.

The four channels are Unite8 Sports 1, Unite8 Sports 1 HD in Hindi and Unite8 Sports 2, and Unite8 Sports 2 HD in English. "The requisite applications for the launch of the channels have been submitted by the Company," according to the filing.

Bavesh Janavlekar will assume additional charge as chief business officer of the Unite8 Sports channels. Janavlekar has managed the Marathi movies cluster of the company. Zee Entertainment is also in talks with the Federation Internationale de Football Association, FIFA, to broadcast and stream the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches in India.

For the March quarter, Zee Entertainment reported a consolidated loss of INR 1.02 billion. It earned consolidated revenues of INR 20.25 billion for the quarter. Tuesday, shares of the company closed a tad higher at INR 82.78 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
