MUMBAI – Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. Monday reported a moderate growth in its top line for the March quarter but a sharp fall in its bottom line on a yearly basis. Its bottom line declined for the eighth consecutive quarter and also registered its biggest fall in more than seven years. The company's top line, however, registered the best growth in eight quarters.
The public-sector railway infrastructure company reported a net profit of INR 2.12 billion for the March quarter, down over 43% on year. Its revenue from operations rose around 5% on year to INR 66.48 billion. The company will pay a final dividend of INR 0.71 per share. Sequentially, the company's bottom line fell nearly 20% while its top line rose around 48%.
Rail Vikas Nigam's total expenses for the quarter rose over 7% on year to INR 65.35 billion, led by a rise in expenses on operations. The company's other expenses more than doubled on year to INR 928 million and expenses on operations rose 4.5% to INR 61.36 billion. Its finance costs fell over 17% on year to INR 969 million in the March quarter.
For 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), the company posted a net profit of INR 8 billion, down around 33% on year. Its revenue rose just about a percent during the year to INR 200.12 billion. The company declared its March quarter results post market hours Monday. Its shares closed at INR 272.45 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.5% from Friday. End
