NEW DELHI – Hitachi Energy India Ltd. reported a sharp jump in its net profit in the March quarter, as growth in revenues outpaced expenses. The company's net profit and revenue for the quarter exceeded analysts' estimates by a decent margin.

The power equipment maker's standalone net profit for Jan-Mar rose 80% on year to INR 3.30 billion, exceeding the Street expectation of INR 3.07 billion. The company's revenue rose 46% on year to INR 27.54 billion, exceeding analysts' estimate of INR 24.01 billion.

The company's expenses rose more slowly than revenues in the March quarter. The company's expenses rose 41% on year to INR 23.68 billion. Expenses mainly increased as the cost of raw materials and other components rose 54% on year to INR 15.86 billion. Raw materials and other components account for roughly two-thirds of the total expenses.

Meanwhile, some smaller expense components registered double-digit declines in the quarter. The company incurred an expense of INR 395.7 million for inventories of finished goods, work-in-progress, and stock-in-trade, down 29% on year. The purchase of stock-in-trade was also lower by nearly 12% on year at INR 205.6 million. The company's finance costs declined nearly 43% on year to INR 34.4 million.

The company's operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation for the March quarter rose to INR 4.52 billion from INR 2.36 billion a year ago. The operating EBITDA margin rose to 16.4% from 12.5% a year ago.

The company plans to set up a power transformer unit in Gujarat at a cost of INR 20 billion.

For the financial year ending March, the company posted revenue of INR 81.48 billion, up 28% on year. Net profit for the year surged 157% on year to INR 9.88 billion during FY26.

The company announced a final dividend of INR 8 per share and set Aug. 21 as the record date. Monday, Hitachi Energy shares closed 0.2% higher at INR 35,635 on the National Stock Exchange. The company announced its March quarter earnings after market hours. End
