MUMBAI – Amara Raja Energy and Mobility Ltd.'s net profit nearly doubled in the March quarter from a year ago due to an exceptional income from an insurance claim for its fire-damaged Chittoor factory. The company's revenue from operations also grew the most in 14 quarters year-on-year. Also, the company's net profit and revenue far exceeded the Street's estimates.
Amara Raja's net profit for the March quarter grew over 93% on year and over 112% on quarter to INR 3.22 billion. Analysts saw the company's net profit for the quarter at INR 1.79 billion. The company's revenue from operations was up 16.34% on year and 3.26% sequentially to INR 34.60 billion. Analysts saw the company's revenue at INR 32.79 billion.
The quarter also saw the highest total expenses in 15 quarters. Total outlay grew nearly 17% on year to INR 32.36 billion. Its tax outgo for the year grew over 92% to INR 1.11 billion.

The company recorded INR 1.81 billion as a one-time income from an insurance claim for the Chittoor factory that was damaged by fire in January 2023. Without the exceptional income, the company's net profit would have been around INR 1.41 billion.
